How To Choose A Helmet And Why MIPS Can Make All The Difference

Helmet safety has come along way in the last few years with a better understanding of head injuries and the introduction of technologies such as MIPS and Koroyd.

Multi-directional impact protection system or MIPS for short is a safety system developed for helmets with the intention to reduce rotation motion to the brain in the event of a crash.

Koroyd is another protection system used in high end helmets. It utilizes sacrificial plastic tubes that deform under impact, controlling and dissipating a larger force than with traditional eps foam.

The shops go to helmets from Smith Optics feature both of these technologies on several of their models and we have witnessed first hand the difference they make in reducing a head injury from a crash.

Pop down to the shop to try on our range of helmets and we can help find what's right for you.
